Went to check out this 1969 GTV I found on eBay and end up getting a tour of the guy's entire 20 car collection including everything from super duper cars to little euro oddities.
The Alfa that started it all was originally sold in Europe and imported here sometime in the 70's (Didn't get a picture of that car but here is a matching one from Wikipedia):
After talking about the car and test driving it, I guess he trusted us (me, my buddy, and my wife) and said "Come around the back of the house I'll show you what's in the garage" So we make our way to the back thinking that either we will see something cool or get mugged. But it was a nice neighborhood and he had 3 Bimmers in his driveway, all brand new - an M3, X6M, and a 1M. So we figured we were safe and what they keep inside must be pretty cool. We round the corner into the garage to find a Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 Super Veloce!
Car is supposedly 1 of 1 in the US with that color which was originally built for a local coffee magnate, and then sold to this guy. Next to it he had a Bentley Continental Supersports with the 6.0 liter W12 engine.
After drooling over the Lambo for a while he asks if we want to see his warehouse nearby where he keeps some more cars. Heck yes! It was full of European rarities (rare in the US anyway). Lots more Bimmers - including this pickup 2002 conversion that I remember seeing on BAT or DT a while back, 850 CSI with the V12 M engine, and plenty more. There were also 2 Lancias, an Abarth, a Fiat 124, 2 Z cars, a Citroen, a couple Porsches (914 and one other) and a 190 SL with a serious rust issue.
All in all it was a great day. Just goes to show, you never know how your day is going to end up you just have to go with the flow and good things might happen. In the end I did not end up buying the Alfa, it went out of my price range but it was worth the trip.

Really nice guy too! Had ANOTHER warehouse on the other side of town with 5-6 more cars in it, including a unimog.

Simply absurd. This guy has great taste.

So why is he selling the Alfa?

Must not drive it enough …. battery tender necessary.
(some sweet ass cars though)

This guy emulates what every high wealth (or just in general) car guy should be. He could have been a snob and just dismissed you as a 'lower' but instead he took you around and showed you some really awesome and rare cars. High five to this guy.

Yeah he was a really nice and cool guy. If you met him on the street you would have no idea he had over a million bucks in cars stashed around the city.

I'm working on getting one, but they all seem to be out of my price range!

I think this collection puts him in the running for one of the most Jalop collectors

I have been looking for a while too but I have way too many other ongoing projects I have to get rid of first.

It must be hard to decide which car to take on a daily basis with that collection. He said even with the battery cutoff switch in the car the battery drains overnight so he keeps the tender on. Must be a short somewhere.

That seems to be my issue too, I have a hard time getting rid of a car once I get it. So the stable keeps growing. I have found the solution though - Bigger Garage!
